Sabina Winningham on being a preceptor
“I love to teach! Having students keeps me on my toes.”

Sabina values working with OCU Kramer School of Nursing BSN-DNP students, describing them as driven, experienced, intelligent individuals who are passionate about making a difference in people’s lives.
Words of wisdom from Sabina Winningham
“Remember, you're seeing a human being not a DSM diagnosis. Listen! Be kind!”

Outside of work, she enjoys painting, crafting, reading, cooking, attending ballet and musical theater productions, traveling, and going to concerts.
Heather Goyne on being a preceptor
“Precepting students helps me stay current on the latest evidence-based practices while also allowing me to share practical knowledge and skills with new practitioners.”
She is motivated to continue precepting by the sense of renewed excitement that comes with each student, as well as the opportunity to learn from their perspectives and approaches to patient care. Heather enjoys working with OCU Kramer School of Nursing BSN-DNP students and appreciates that they come well-prepared and ready to engage in the clinical environment. She is a proud OCU graduate and therefore familiar with the program. She feels that this makes it easier to provide focused high yield clinical experiences that relate to the current didactic training.
Words of Wisdom from Heather Goyne
“Prioritize your physical and mental health. Carve out a few minutes a day that are not work or school related to touch base with your family, partner, or others in your life. Focus for a few minutes each day on the beauty in the world around you. This is a skill that is hard to learn and easy to lose while going to school and working.

Jennifer McCammond on being a preceptor
“I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned over the years, including alternative approaches to healthcare and meeting patients where they are. I also learn from my students. They help me stay current on research in areas I may not otherwise explore.”
She is motivated to continue precepting by her passion for teaching and her own experience as a student, where finding a preceptor was challenging. She always knew she wanted to give back by supporting future nurse practitioners.
Jennifer enjoys working with OCU Kramer School of Nursing BSN-DNP students and values that they come well-prepared with strong assessment skills and foundational knowledge. She appreciates their readiness to engage in patient care and values the trust required when involving students in her practice.
Words of Wisdom from Jennifer McCammond
“Listen to your patient’s story; if you listen long enough, they will guide you to what’s wrong. With the way medicine is now that is not always an option – I understand that – hopefully we will change that!”
